An insight into Men's Health and recommendations to improve your lifestyle.

Your body and mind are the most Important tools you will ever own. With regular maintenance they will serve you well for the entirety of your life.

"The human body has been designed to resist an infinite number of changes and attacks brought about by its environment. The secret of good health lies in successful adjustment to changing stresses on the body." Harry J. Johnson

Did you know….

Male life expectancy in the Republic of Ireland has risen from 73.4 in 1997 to 80.5 in 2018 but women still live on average 3.6 years longer than men. Many premature deaths in the male population are caused by preventable illnesses such as respiratory and circulatory diseases and diseases of the digestive systems. The good news is that with a few changes to your daily routine, you can help improve your wellbeing.

Positive Changes for Positive Results.

Get Regular Exercise.

We could all do with being more active in our daily lives. Find something that you enjoy doing that will make it easier to fit it in with your current lifestyle. Whether it is a short walk, a run, a cycle-whatever floats your boat! You will be amazed at how much you will look forward to exercising once you get started. The health benefits associated with regular exercise include weight management, lowering blood pressure and improving your mental health.

Improve Your Diet.

Your diet is important for both your physical and mental health. A bad diet affects energy levels, mood and weight management. Make small consistent changes to help your body and mind adjust to your new diet. Try drinking more water, eating more fruits and vegetables, reducing alcohol intake and reducing sugar consumption. All these things will help to contribute to a healthier way of life. Look After Your Mental Health.

Your mental health is one of the most important aspects of your overall health. If you ever feel helpless or can’t see a way through a particular situation, don’t be afraid to reach out for help from a trusted friend or a healthcare professional. “A problem shared is a problem halved” is one of the truest sayings. Sometimes just getting something off your chest and out of your head can really help you to see things a bit differently. A different perspective can help to find real solutions to work your way through the issue and find a resolution. And remember, asking for help does not equal weakness, everyone needs help at some time in their lives and there is always help there.
