Whites Pharmacy Carlow - Always There To Care

Whites Pharmacy has been serving the community in Carlow since 1956. Michael and Kitty White opened and ran the pharmacy until it was taken over by Paul and his wife Anita in 1990.

Paul and Anita, along with their excellent staff, continued to provide customers with a professional and personal service until their retirement in December 2020, when the pharmacy was acquired by Micheál Walsh. Micheál has continued to uphold the values and traditions of Whites Pharmacy, ensuring a caring and professional service for all customers.

The business offers prescription and over-the-counter medications, pharmacy services, vaccinations, and an extensive range of cosmetics, fragrances, and pharmacy gifts.

Orlagh Brennan is the Supervising Pharmacist and manages the day-to-day operations of the business.

Whites Pharmacy Kilkenny - Always There To Care

Whites Pharmacy has deep roots in the heart of Kilkenny City. Established in 1953 by Michael and Kathleen White, the pharmacy began its journey at the old Teehan's Medical Hall on 101 High Street, directly across from our current location.

Under the dedicated leadership of their son Kieran, Whites Pharmacy continued to flourish, upholding the family's unwavering commitment to care and service until Kieran's retirement in December 2022.

With the transition to Micheál Walsh in December 2022, the legacy of quality care continues. Micheál also owns Whites Pharmacy on Tullow Street in Carlow Town and brings extensive experience and a strong commitment to maintaining the professional and compassionate service our customers expect from Whites Pharmacy.

Martin, our Supervising Pharmacist, now leads our team with dedication and expertise, ensuring that the traditions of quality care continue to thrive. With a focus on professionalism and compassion, Martin and our staff are here to meet all your healthcare needs.

At Whites Pharmacy, we pride ourselves on offering a comprehensive range of prescription and over-the-counter medications, along with pharmacy services, vaccinations, and a curated selection of cosmetics, fragrances, and pharmacy gifts.

Orlagh Brennan

Orlagh graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1997 and returned to her native Carlow to work in community pharmacy.

In 2007, Orlagh started working in Whites Pharmacy alongside Paul and is always on hand to offer expert advice on medications and treatments.

Her caring personality makes her perfectly suited to looking after you and your family. Since December 2020, Orlagh has taken on the Supervising Pharmacist role at Whites and continues to maintain the ethos and culture of the business created by the White family.

Micheál Walsh

Micheál graduated from Sunderland University in the UK in 1999. He managed a number of pharmacies in the UK before returning to Ireland in 2004.

In December 2020, Micheál acquired Whites Pharmacy on Tullow Street in Carlow, and in December 2022, he expanded the group further by taking over Whites Pharmacy in Kilkenny—an esteemed business with roots dating back to 1953.

Through the establishment of the Always There Group, Micheál continues to build on the legacy of trusted, community-focused healthcare. His commitment to professional, compassionate service ensures that customers across Carlow, Kilkenny, and beyond continue to receive the highest standard of pharmacy care.

Philip Cooney 

Philip graduated from UCC in 2018 and completed a Masters Degree in the Royal College of Surgeons (RCSI) in 2019, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and a passion for pharmacy. He joined the Whites Pharmacy team in October 2021, and he has been a vital part of our team ever since.


A native of Kilkenny, Philip is especially pleased to serve as the Supervising Pharmacist for his own community. His connection to Kilkenny enhances his commitment to providing exceptional care and personalised service to our customers.

As a vaccinating pharmacist, Philip has been actively involved in administering annual COVID-19 and influenza vaccine clinics in our Kilkenny store.
Philip's passion for patient health and wellbeing is evident in everything he does. He is dedicated to ensuring that each patient receives the best possible advice and treatment.

Ellie Keenan


Ellie graduated from Liverpool John Moores University in 2004 and has been working as a pharmacist for Whites Pharmacy since January 2022.

Since joining our Whites Pharmacy, Carlow team, Ellie has been committed to providing exceptional care and expert advice to our patients. She has a passion for helping people achieve optimal health and is always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that our patients receive the best possible care.

Ellie is our vaccinating pharmacist at Whites Pharmacy Carlow and administers both influenza and COVID-19 vaccines. Her extensive knowledge of vaccines and immunizations, combined with her compassionate approach to patient care, makes her the perfect person to help you and your family stay healthy and protected.
