What is the Morning After Pill?
Emergency contraception, often called the morning after pill, is a tablet you can take after unprotected sex to help prevent pregnancy. It’s also a helpful option if your regular contraception didn’t work as expected—or if you’re just unsure whether it was used or taken correctly.
If you think you might need it, don’t panic. The most important thing is to act promptly and speak to your pharmacist, who is there to offer clear, confidential advice. The sooner the pill is taken, the more effective it can be.
At Whites Pharmacy, we’re here to make the process as easy and stress-free as possible.
How to get the Morning After Pill ?
We understand it can feel a bit scary walking in—but please don’t worry. Whites Pharmacy staff are friendly, professional, and here to help without judgment. Just walk up to the counter and simply ask to speak to the pharmacist about the morning after pill.
You’ll be brought to a private consultation room for a short, confidential chat to ensure it’s the right option for you.
If suitable, the pharmacist will provide the medication and explain how and when to take it.
The process is quick, discreet, and always handled with care and respect.
How effective is the Morning After Pill?
Morning after pills are not 100% effective. This is because there is a chance that you may have already ovulated before you took the emergency contraceptive pill. Taking emergency contraceptive pills as soon as possible after unprotected sex gives the best chance of success.
Sexually Transmitted Infection
It is important to note that emergency contraception does not protect you from sexually transmitted infection. It is important to speak with your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions or concerns about STIs.
