Be Sun Safe This Summer

Although Ireland isn’t well known for its sunny weather that doesn’t mean that we can afford to be complacent when it comes to sun safety, the same rules apply whether you are staying home or going abroad this summer.

So here are a few tips to help you and your family stay safe in the sun.

Seek Shade

Between the hours of 10a.m and 4p.m sunburn causing UV Rays are at their strongest try to avoid being in direct sunlight during these times.

Cover Up

One of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your skin from sun damage is to wear a t-shirt and cover up with a hat.

Wear Sunglasses

Eyes are sensitive to UV Rays. Protect your eyes by wearing sunglasses. Choose a pair which are wrap around and offer UV protection.

Apply Sunscreen

We recommend a broad-spectrum sunscreen which protects against both UVA and UVB Rays and offers a high SPF. We suggest using SPF 20 or higher. Apply at least 20 mins prior to sun exposure and remember to reapply regularly, especially after swimming or sweating. Check out or range of sunscreen here.

Keep Babies and young children out of the sun as much as possible.

Stay Hydrated

Drink plenty of water throughout the day and if you feel dehydrated try taking a Dioralyte or O.R.S Hydration Tablets to help you rehydrate.
